Did you know that the hanging wheel grill is a traditional product of Saarland? Called „Schwenker“ by locals, this form of grill device is used since primeval times to prepare meat. This is confirmed by archeological findings in Saarbrucken.
The hanging wheel grill consists of a man-high metal tripod or a construction similar to gallows. At the top is a wheel or hook which is used to regulate the length of a chain, at whose end a round rust is fastened. The rust can swing freely between the three legs. In earlier times the wheel rim of an old car wheel was used instead of a rust.
By freely hanging and tossing meat will not burn so quick, is heated more effectively and developing a better taste. Try it at your next grill party!
