Saxony15.05.2014One of the best-known German luxury brands
In 1710 August the Strong founded the „Royal-Polish and Electorate-Saxon Porcelain Manufactory“. The manufactory produced till 1863 in the castle Albrechtsburg in Meissen and afterwards in its own production facility. Nowadays, Meissen porcelain enjoys an international reputation. The internationally leading porcelain manufactory which is regarded as Germany’s best known luxury brand, still also produces goods that are not always suitable for everyday use.
The brand’s symbol is crossed swords which asserted itself in the year 1731 against the brand AR (August Rex) and the Mercury stick.
In 1991 the free state of Saxony became sole shareholder of the "State Porcelain Manufactory Meissen Ltd". Contemporary figures, containers and dishes, all mostly based on 18th century classical models, can still be found in the product range. But also modern designs and paintings are part of the production.
