The National Park Saxon Switzerland is a wonderful holiday region with one of the most astonishing sceneries in Germany. Wooded table mountains and stand-alone sandstone rocks rise everywhere as far as you can look. And in the midst river Elbe flows through narrow valleys.

For climbing fans the Elb Sandstone Mountains are the perfect destination. 1,100 rocks are waiting for you  – where else can you see such a thing? Well signposted hiking trails take you into a huge area of pure nature. Most popular is the hiking trail „Malerweg“ that leads you to nicest places, its name literally meaning “painters path”.

On no account you should miss Bastion Rock and Fortress Königsstein. Fans of music may want to attend the music festival „Sandstone & Music“.
