Tranquil but yet defiant
Since the 14th century owners of this castle are permanently changing. Renovations, conversions and extensions turned the castle into a palace. Though August the Strong stayed here on hunting occasions, his beloved countess Cosel came here before leaving to exile and Napoleon spent a night in the castle in 1813, Nossen Castle has not made history .
This castle rather fell into a deep sleep. Today the castle grounds accommodate a museum of local history and a comprehensive library that has 6,000 books on theology, natural sciences and local history.
