Moated castle Moritzburg - unique building in marvellous scenery

Though the moated castle Moritzburg is not the only important baroque building in Saxony, it is by far a very special one. Built in the 16th century in wonderful pond scenery, castle grounds were conversed by August the Strong into a magnificent hunting lodge at the early 18th century.

The fantastic building enchants visitors even more with its interior. Figuratively painted leather wallpaper which looks almost like tapestry, is both unusual and of cultural historical value. Gorgeous baroque pieces of furniture, Meissen porcelain, China from Japan and China decorate the rooms similarly as do all the paintings of French, Italian and German painters.

The dining room accommodates one of the most important antler collections in Europe. It calls its won the 24 Ender, the heaviest red deer antlers of the world.
