„The Balcony of Europe“ and a subterranean fortress will take you back in time.
Widely stretching on the left shore of the rive Elbe Brühl's Terrace takes visitors back in time to the 19th century. The historic architectural ensemble with accurately cut trees, a wide staircase and stone benches invite to stay. Townwards are monumental buildings of the Albertinum (early armoury), the academy of arts and the art exhibition.
Directly under Brühl’s Terrace are located the parts of Dresden fortress. Surrounded by a mighty wall, a wide ditch and ramparts, the fortress offered at old times protection against enemies. The subterranean part can be visited and surprises visitors by taking them back 400 years in time on a walk through obscure and humid paths, passing guardrooms, the cannon court and lots more.
