Anklam
Gate to Usedom

Anklam is a Hanseatic town in the administrative district of Western Pomerania Greifswald. The provincial town is located within river scenery and nature reserve Peenetal valley and lies directly at river Peene.

The town can best be reached by water. Besides, three long distance bicycle trails lead to Anklam. Also several federal highways can be taken to reach „the gate to island Usedom“. Of course there is also public transport. Anklam even has an airport where charter flights take off.

River Peene offers many attractions to water enthusiasts. Even more nature can be seen at valley Peenetal. Here guided tours through nature take you to places where cultural and historical treasures and birds can be observed. On several hiking trails excursions to the surroundings of Anklam can be done.

Anklam has also numerous bicycle trails leading around town. Some of the long distance trails cross town and invite ambitious bicyclists to stay.

A visit to the Otto Lilienthal museum is recommended. Here you can learn something about the history of flight. Outside of town on the airport area you can find a teaching and experience trail called Aeronaticon.
