Western Pomerania Mainland
Western Pomerania Mainland
Germany’s most northerly mainland and the area with the longest coastline.

Western Pomerania is still marked by a beautyful nature. Wild-romantic riversides, a vast low marshland and dense forests fascinate every visitor. Old national parks excite lovers of nature.

In between lie idyllic villages with market squares, churches, old mills, farm houses and estates. Stralsund, also called "Venice of the north", is probably the nicest hanseatic town and, due to its precious Gothic buildings in the Old Town, listed as UNESCO world cultural heritage.

Rivers Recknitz, Trebel, Tollense and Peene turn the region into a true bird's paradise in which storks, cranes and birds of prey still nest.

Ueckermünde, for example, lies in the Ueckermünde Heath, Western Pomeranian’s biggest woodlands, and offers an attractive lagoon where you can swim, play beach volleyball and enjoy water sports.

Whether swimming, hiking or riding a bike, those who love being outside in nature will definitely enjoy the beauty of this region.
