Tradition and excellent research distinguish this university

In Cologne six faculties offer a wide range of courses in different scientific disciplines. Founded in 1388, this old university had its famous days during the 15th century. Still today the landmarks of the university are visible at the university‘s seal which is in use since 1392.

This traditional university teaches and researches life sciences and natural sciences.

The faculty of philosophy offers a wide spectrum of fields that all focus on research as, e.g., non-European languages and cultures as well as archaeology.

The faculty of economic and social sciences is due to its research oriented programme regarded one of the best in Germany.

The faculty of humanities was founded in 2007 and is already very successful in research. The department of „special educational theory and rehabilitation“ is one of the biggest centres in Europe.
