Friedrich's Wilhelm University of Bonn is one of Germany’s biggest universities. It was founded in 1818 and named after Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III, and until today famous personalities like Heinrich Heine, Karl Marx, Konrad Adenauer and Robert Schuman have learned and taught here.
Today this university ranks among the top 200 of the world in the Times of Higher Education listing. Besides, it is one of those German universities which were within the scope of the initiative of excellency included into the conveyor lines excellency cluster and postgraduate's schools. In state sponsorship today over 32000 people study at Friedrich's Wilhelm university.
The university says of itself: „The university of Bonn is an internationally operating research oriented university that focuses on cooperation.“ Mathematics and economy, but also physics, astrology and chemistry are among the main focuses of the college.
In order to carry out its responsibilities in teaching and research efficiently, the University is organised into seven Faculties that are in turn made up of a large number of institutes, departments and clinics.
