Fun for Viking fans

Schleswig is the principal town of the district Schleswig-Flensburg. The town is situated at the western shore of river Schlei in the north of Schleswig - Holstein.

Art and culture are standing out in this town. Many special exhibitions and events will surprise you. The Viking's museum of Haithabu allows you to experience Vikings‘ houses. For families with children the Teddy's house on the grounds of the town museum will be a welcoming change.

A totally different world will embrace you on peninsula Holm. Here you will find a historical fishermen‘s village with a cemetery in its centre. From here it’s only a stone’s throw to Old Town, where the Cathedral of St. Petri's stands. Inside of the cathedral is the famous Brüggemann's Altar.

Events

In summer, besides „Swinging city“ or a rock festival on Freiheit the Viking’s Days are staged on the shore of river Schlei. At the end of the year the Christmas Fair in the Cathedral takes place.
