A vibrating little town
Rüdesheim is a winemaking town with nearly 10,000 inhabitants and lies in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis district in the federal state of Hessen. It is one of Germany‘s biggest tourist attractions in Germany and listed in the UNESCO‘s world heritage list.
Centred between the Upper Rhine lowlands, Middle Rhine area and Taunus, Rüdesheim has a very picturesque landscape. On sun lingered southern slopes grapes are agricultured up to a height of 250m and extend to the coppice (346 m).
Rüdesheim has an enchanting medieval city centre with wine taverns and bars housed in historical half-timbered buildings. The heart of the historical city and at the same time a crowd-puller is the world famous 144 m long lane „Drosselgasse“. Live bands and dance music play all day and all night long in many wine taverns and open-air garden taverns.
A wonderful view of Rüdesheim, the vineyards, woods and the Rhine you have at the statue of Germania that is situated far above the city in the Niederwald woods. This monument was finished in 1883 and can be reached either by car, by foot on a lovely footpath through vineyards or by a cable railway.
Rüdesheim offers many sportive activities as well. Canoeing on the Rhine, taking a boat trip, hiking on The Rheinsteig or taking an enchanting castle and fortresses bicycling trail through the Loreley Valley are among your possible choices.
