Scenic versatility with many natural and cultural monuments

The Palatinate Forest Nature Park, the so-called Sickinger Höhe and the North Palatine Uplands are located in the beautiful West Palatinate. Here tourists enjoy the homely atmosphere of the villages and towns as well as wine and good food.

The administrative district of Kaiserslautern has 105,000 inhabitants and is located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the middle of the Westpfalz. It encloses 50 municipalities. Approximately one third of its surface is part of the nature reserve Pfälzer woods. In the west it encloses the so-called Sickinger Height whilst in the north it extends till the northern Rhineland mountainous country. Its highest peak with 528 m above NN is situated not far from the Johanniskreuz. Seat of administrative is the city of Kaiserslautern.

The region is characterized by scenic versatility with many natural monuments as for example the Elendsklamm, numerous fortresses and castles like the castle of Nanstein in Landshut or a baroque castle in Trippstadt.
