Emsland offers holidays for everyone.

At quiet and romantic places in Emsland you can enjoy silence and relax. If you prefer active holidays you will find the perfect option as well. This attractive region in the northwest of Lower Saxony is shaped by idyllic places and cultural history reaching back for thousands of years.

Marvellous water offer canoe rides along green shores. Cyclists can discover the area on over 1400 km of trails, whilst horse lovers have 1100 km of bridle paths available to them. Also fans of hiking and Nordic Walking will be happy in this region of Germany.

The Emsland combines past, present and future visions in a rare harmony: on the one hand you can see affectionately restored farms and magnificent mansions, while on the other hand you can use the high-speed magnetic railway called Transrapid.

You’ll see the baroque hunting logde of Clemenswerth, but also futuristic ocean giants of famous shipyard Meyer. Nature lovers shall be recommended to visit the marshland museum of Emsland, which calls the biggest deep plough of the world its own. Moreover, in Haselünne, which is a real Hanseatic town, you can explore and taste the art of grain distilling.
