Kraichgau - Gentle hills welcome visitors

Trekking fans looking for unspoiled nature, lush vineyards and sweet, undulating hills will just love the Kraichgau. Along with a charming landscape they will encounter palaces, castles, chapels, churches, monasteries and historical landmarks as well.

One of these is Michelfeld Palace, a water palace made in 1753. Along with the palace building itself also the surrounding park impresses the visitors with its elegance.

Another historic heirloom is the moated Eichtersheim Palace build in the 16th century and also situated in the midst of a vast park including very old and also some exotic trees. The palace itself is surrounded by an idyllic pond crossed by a wonderful bridge made of sandstone. The park ist used as venue for events as a “festival of lights” at pentecost, for a knights tournament and also highland games.

The biggest cities of the Kraichgau are Sinsheim, Eppingen, Bad Rappenau and Bruchsal, but also a lot of the villages which mostly date back to medieval times are worth visiting.

Hikers enjoying a stroll through the countryside, through vineyards and charming areas will find all they could wish for in the Kraichgau. Numerous castles, fortresses, chapels, churches, monasteries and other historic buildings attract visitors in the Kraichgau.

One of these is Castle Michelfeld, a moated castle built in 1753. With its beautiful park this castle is charming and impressive.

Eichtersheim presents its Moated Palace and the wonderful adjoining park as an important inheritance of the past. Built in the 16th century the moated palace lies in the midst of a huge park in which old and exotic trees grow. It is surrounded by an idyllic pond with a marvellous sandstone bridge. Today the castle accommodates the city hall, the police station and a restaurant. The park is used as venue for various events, e.g. the light party at Whitsuntide Market, the Knight's Tournament or Highland Games.

The biggest towns of the Kraichgau are Sinsheim, Eppingen, Bad Rappenau and Bruchsal. Numerous villages established in medieval times are well worth visiting.
