Over a fifth of Baden-Wurttemberg’s tourists come from abroad. This state is particularly favoured by Swiss, French, Dutchmen and Britons. Even tourist numbers from Arabian and Asian countries have risen lately. The castle of Ludwigsburg and castle of Hohenzollern are two attractive destinations which have much profited.
Successively for the third time numbers of overnight stays increased to 48 millions in 2013. Tourism industry is with 280,000 jobs one of the biggest employers in the southwest. Among cities, Stuttgart has gained attraction, but also circles of Mannheim, Esslingen and Ulm have lately seen strong increases.
To promote Baden-Wurttemberg as a holiday destination, the country supports infrastructure, hotels and catering industry as well as personnel growth.
